We're excited to tell you about our Young Volunteers Programme for paddlers aged 14 to 25 years old! 


By logging the hours you volunteer, you'll earn up to £150 towards your choice of training or qualification plus you'll earn up to £70 in rewards to spend at our online shop, where you'll find items such as camping mugs and t-shirts.

ABOUT THE YOUNG VOLUNTEERS PROGRAMME

The Canoe Wales Young Volunteers programme is all about recognising the ways that young people give back to paddlesport. When you sign up, we'll ask you to record your volunteering hours using a special app.

 

Your volunteering activities could include:


  • Setting up and putting away the equipment
  • Attending committee meetings as the club’s youth representative
  • Helping organise events
  • Leading youth sessions
  • Running your club's social media
  • Attending training courses

 

You'll have a mentor at your club who will work with you to develop your volunteer role and support you to access any training you might need. 

 

As you log hours, for every volunteering milestone you reach, you'll be able to redeem those hours for discount codes you can use in our online shop.

  • Programme Information for Mentors

    As mentor, you will be responsible for:


    • Helping the Young Volunteer identify a volunteering opportunity
    • Obtaining informed parental consent (if the young volunteer is under the age of 18)
    • Risk assessing the volunteering opportunity and making sure all safeguards are in place
    • Confirming the volunteering hours logged

    1. Register your club’s volunteering opportunities with Canoe Wales, please email cath.sykes@canoewales.com.  Cath will then be in contact to support you through the process.
    2. Register with Volunteering Wales to set up opportunities and log hours.  To find your local contact, please visit Volunteering Wales or keep a hardcopy of the record of hours (must include dates, nature of volunteering, and be signed by the mentor).

HOW TO LOG YOUR HOURS

It's as easy as downloading an app!


You will log your hours using the easy-to-use TeamKinetic app, available for download for iOS or Android phones. This app will let you and your club volunteering mentor see how many hours you have logged each week.

If you'd like a simpler way to track your hours, which maybe convenient if you don't have a smart phone for example, or you are struggling with the app, why not try one of the following options:

EARN REWARDS

You'll earn rewards to redeem in our Canoe Wales Online Shop once you log 10, 50 and 120 volunteer hours in paddlesport - plus you'll get a £5 discount code just for signing up! Once you log 15 hours you can apply for your course bursary of up to £150:

  • Sign up – £5 discount code
  • 10 hours – £15 discount code
  • 15 hours – apply for your course bursary
  • 50 hours – £20 discount code
  • 120 hours – £30 discount code and you'll be presented with the Young Volunteers Gold Award at the Canoe Wales Awards


Each time you hit a milestone, you just need to click the 'GET YOUR REWARDS' button below to request your discount code - we'll then send you a unique code by email which you can redeem online in the shop.


To apply for your course bursary, you need to click the 'APPLY FOR COURSE BURSARY' button below to complete your application.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Signing up

    • When you sign up, we'll ask for some  information about you so that we can track your participation and send you your volunteering rewards. At any time, you can ask to leave the programme and request that we delete your personal data.
    • We will contact you regularly by email - and by mobile when appropriate - to support you with your participation in the programme.
    • To receive your £5 welcome discount code, you must be between the ages of 14 and 25 at the time of signing up.
    • Only one £5 discount per person.

  • Earning rewards

    • You must download and use the TeamKinetic app on your mobile device to earn rewards - no other form of logging your hours will be accepted for rewards.
    • Canoe Wales and/or your club mentor will review and approve the hours that you log.
    • In order to receive your reward discount codes, you must fill out the form to request your reward. Rewards will not be sent automatically.
    • Discount codes will be sent by email to the email address you gave us at the time of registration. When you request a discount code, please ensure you enter your email address correctly.

  • Redeeming rewards

    • Discount codes can only be used in the Canoe Wales Online Shop as part payment for products for sale.
    • Only one discount code can be used per order.
    • Discount codes can only be used once.
    • Discount codes can not be used to pay for shipping and handling charges.
    • If you do not use the full value of a discount code (for example, if you use a £30 code on a £20 item) you will forfeit any unused discount.
    • Canoe Wales cannot be held responsible if you provide an incorrect email address and someone other than the intended recipient uses your discount code.
    • Discount codes cannot be exchanged for cash.
    • Where products purchased online with a discount code are returned, monies owing will be refunded by discount code.
    • Canoe Wales is not responsible if a discount code is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without permission and no replacement can be provided in these circumstances.
