CT is a National Centre of Excellence for Canoesport in Wales and is internationally recognised as a Centre of Excellence for both paddlesport coaching and safety and rescue training. The centre combines top level coaching with the best whitewater facilities in the UK , is the UK agent for Rescue 3 International and is the leading provider of swiftwater safety and rescue training in the UK.
CT's coaches are amongst the most experienced and dedicated in the UK. Either Level 5 or Aspirant Level 5 (with the occasional GB Freestyle team member thrown in on the playboat courses), the staff at the centre are committed to delivering the standard-setting courses that CT is renowned for. A number of the coaches are directly involved with the BCU in the development of its coaching scheme. The combination of these close links with the WCA & BCU and high quality coaching means that Canolfan Tryweryn is undoubtedly a centre of excellence for coach development.

River Tryweryn
The majority of the courses are run on-site at the Tryweryn and, although the river is dam released, water isn't guaranteed every day of the year. If it happens that there isn't a release the course will be re-located to an equivalent venue or, if this is not possible, re-scheduled for a later date. In the event of a re-scheduled course all participants will be offered either a place on the new course or a full refund.

Other Local Rivers
Some courses that are run on rivers other than the Tryweryn i.e 5 Star Assessments are very much rain–dependant. These courses are run across the winter as the chances of water are greater and they fit in with the access agreements. However, North Wales rivers are fickle creatures and perfect water levels can't be guaranteed for every course. If the rivers are too low for any of the off-site courses then they will be re-scheduled for a later date and all participants will be offered either a place on the new course or a full refund.
